The 2010 Membership Form is available in PDF here.

The Membership forms should be accompanied with €30. €20 for juniors.

YES – there is a modest fee to join the club. Primarily this goes towards annual registration of the club with Cycling Ireland and the website maintenance.

Membership is a requirement if you wish to be a regular on the club spins or attend any training sessions. Exception will be made to this rule for newbies wanting to ‘give it a try’ or out of town visitors joining us for a spin, however abusers of this policy will be subject endless harassing for payment and ‘name and shame’ on the forum.

Membership forms can be returned to Niall Donovan (Niall on the forum) or Graham (Yogi on the forum) who is minister in charge of membership in 2010.

This PDF has digital forms so if you download it to your computer, you an type into the fields, print it off & sign it before handing it in.

Cycling Ireland Membership
Everyone that joins the club is strongly encouraged to join Cycling Ireland (CI).

Why Join?
Insurance, plain and simple! If you are only a club member and not a CI member then the club is covered in case you had an accident and made a claim on the club. However, if you cycle into a walker and they make a claim against you personally, you have no cover. If you join CI you have 3rd party insurance.
If you race then things change somewhat. CI (or more accurately their insurance firm) regard racing as a higher risk activity so a an extra level of cover is required. There are 3 categories of racing: Club, National & International

There are several levels ( and costs) of membership (These prices assume you are a club member):
* Introductory Member - if it's your first time joining CI -€10 and gives you 3rd party insurance when biking with the club.
* Non-Competition Member - renewing member that only does club spins - €20 and gives you 3rd party insurance
* Club Racing - €55 and gives you 3rd party insurance when racing at club level
* Restricted Competition (i.e. MTB/Road/bmx/etc.) - €85
* Full Competition (Road/MTB/Etc) Nationally - €5(u14),€35(U16),€50(U18),€120(>18)
* International supplement - so you can race overseas - €20

For most people the €10 or €20 membership options are adequate. If you don;t race or only race now and then you can opt to pay day licenses on the day of the race for a small extra charge (€15 typically). If you plan to race the DH or XC NPS or both then you need the €85 option.

To apply for a license you join the club, fill out a CI members form, pay your fee and wait for CI to get the club to confirm you are a member. Then and only then will they send you a members card with your license number on it. This could be done on-line with CI before. The have a new web page and the on-line option seems to be missing. If they add it back in I'll post the link. Failing that do it the old fashioned way...snail mail or e-mail!

Jer Hefernan will need to confirm you as a member with CI before they process your license. Also they need 6 or more license applicants from a club before they even begin to process licenses! Jer is the man to contact with regards race licenses. From his recent posts it seens CI are not ready to accept license applicants yet so I suggest you hold off until Jer puts up a post to give you the go ahead
