About MBCC

MBCC was a prominent mountain bike club in Ireland back in the early 90’s when myself and few of the other older members took up the sport. It slowly fizzled out over the years with members like Gary Yeo holding it together for as long as he could.

The club was brought back to life around 10 years ago by myself (Peter Stanley), Peter O Loughlin, Niall O Donovan and Conor Hallahan, with the aim of providing a club more focused on getting bodies out on bikes rather than just racing.

We also wanted to cater for all disciplines…Cross County, Downhill, Cyclocross  and now Enduro and even BMX, with a bit of racing of each  too. We are currently the only club in the country (that I know of) that has an annual lease of a Coillte forest, where we have the permission to maintain and build mountain bike specific trails for members use. This wood is Tracton woods in Ballyfeard, south of Carrigaline, which has been used by local for mountain biking for nearly 20 years.

Spins and events are organised through Whatsapp, a social media app for mobile phones, and news articles posted here on the website.

New members are always welcome and the club funds go towards the lease with Coillte, Cycling Ireland affiliation, running events and buying tools for trail building and maintenance.
